About Me

Hello! If you’re reading this, you may want to check out my new site elainalynn.com. I no longer update this site, but you can find all of these posts, as well as great new ones on my new site! Hope to see you there!

I started #WeddingGirlProblems to share the joys of planning a wedding and working in the wedding industry while juggling the curves that life throws at you. I like to think my life experiences have always led to the next: serving weddings & events at a country club, working retail in the fashion & stationery worlds, interning as a wedding coordinator, and working as a advertising media planner/analyst/researcher. All of that led me to realize I was not doing the one thing that I always did in my free time, digital design. And that is how Elaina Lynn Design was born! Check out my Etsy-work-in-progress site here and follow along on my journey to find my niche in the design & wedding world at #WeddingGirlProblems. I promise to share my wedding tips & tricks as well as my design woes along the way.

  1. Elaina!! I had no idea you’re getting into the wedding planning industry! (makes sense now after you were so on top of it at Kay’s wedding!) That’s what I want to do after school! You’re so right, there’s def. not much information about how to get started in the career. Excited to see all that you accomplish! 🙂

    • Thanks so much! Yes I’m finally getting things going and doing what I’ve always dreamed of. I wish I had gone to school for event planning, so now I’m putting together the pieces on my own! I am excited to see your progress as well!

      • Elaina,

It was reading your blog and I agree there is not a lot of information about event planning. I’m in the process of trying to start my own business in event planning, but offering other items as well. Also I decided to go back to school to complete my Bachelors, but I wish I realized earlier in my life my passion is event planning. Recently I joined a few organizations that offer mentorship program so I’m excited to see what they have to offer. Kudos for you on finding an event planner you can follow it is so hard to get or find an event planner in Chicago without having that background, but I will keep trying. Love your blog I will continue to follow your journey.

        • LynToya,

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement! It certainly does feel like you will never find someone to shadow, so I hope you find the right person soon! I’ve heard joining organizations can really help you become a part of the community. I’m sure the Chicago market is much more competitive, but I wish you the best of luck. Thank you so much for following.

I would love to hear your thoughts!
